New Look for Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel “Home of The International Suite”
Mercure Hull, Grange Park Hotel has invested over a million pounds into an extensive refurbishment project, which has transformed the International Suite, launching Home of the International Suite, as the city prepares to adopt the status of UK City of Culture for 2017.
The four star hotel, nestled in 12 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens, will unveil the first stage of an extensive refurbishment programme at an official opening on the 7th October, with a special event planned to launch the hotel’s stunning new locally inspired look. The first phase of the renovation includes a transformation of the International Suite, one of Yorkshire’s largest event facilities.
The second phase to the refurbishment will commence in November to include a full redesign of the hotel’s 100 bedrooms. The full refurbishment and new guest experience is set to be complete by the end of the year, in time for new business that the City of Culture accolade is likely to bring to the city.
The new look International Suite offers the perfect space for conferences and business functions, having built a strong reputation for hosting a wide variety of clients and large-scale business events. The suite can host up to 550 delegates. It also provides the perfect backdrop for dreamy weddings or special events such as christenings or birthdays and accommodates up to 450 guests for dinner. There are seven event rooms and ten meetings rooms, each flexible in their set up to be tailored to provide the ideal venue for smaller parties or larger events alike.
Interior designer Helen Hooper of HH Interiors, who has previously worked with Jupiter Hotels on renovation projects across the UK, managed the project. Commenting on the inspiration behind the new design, Helen said, “The new interior fuses contemporary fabrics and colours of taupe, blues and greys with accents of gold. We’ve used a soft neutral palate, which was influenced by the hotel’s countryside surroundings. We wanted to deliver locally inspired touches throughout, which lie at the heart of the design concept. We used silk curtains for the International Suite, as well as bespoke artwork and an antique mirrored back bar. The bedrooms will be updated to deliver a modern look with personalized digitally printed images on the bed headboards as well as an extraordinary and dreamy image of the Humber Bridge in all bathrooms.”
“Everything about the refurbishment has been inspired by Hull and East Yorkshire and we wanted to truly capture the county’s individuality through this redesign. There’s an array of unique design features, which draw inspiration from the hotel’s beautiful countryside surroundings. The carpet pattern is designed to depict birds, branches and leaves which provides a distinctive rural and peaceful feel.”
The new look coincides with an exciting time for the city of Hull. Commenting on the refurbishment, hotel General Manager Peter Nye said: “Mercure Hull, Grange Park Hotel will become ‘Home of the International Suite’ providing perfect parties and events all year round. It is more than 55o square metres and is one of the biggest spaces available at a hotel in the entire county of Yorkshire. We are thrilled with the new design and are confident this will really help elevate the International Suite as the place to go for the finest corporate events, dinners and special occasions.”
Shane Harris, CEO Jupiter Hotels, added: “The investment demonstrates our continued commitment to the growth and transformation of our portfolio in the UK. The renovation of Grange Park Hotel provides a taste of what’s to come over the next year as we increase hotel development and elevate customer experience in the mid-scale sector.”
